Power Office Goes Digital :-

Eastern Power Distribution Corporation Limited (EPDCL) corporate office here had turned into an e-office and now on no files will move physically. Talking to reporters here on Friday EPDCL CMD it Mutyala Rain said that as part of phase 1 implementation of e-Office. RPDCL’s corporate office at Vizag has been digitised and in the later stage as part of phase 2, all its circle offices, divisions, sub-divisions, section offices and revenue offices will be digitised by October end to ensure paperless work at all stages. “There will be no carrying of files physically for signatures. Digitalisation of office records will help find out the status of a particular file at any point of time, enables officers to work from anywhere at anytime, delays in the file movement could be cut, ensures transparency and efficiency of staff, increases productivity and saves space. E-office system is managed in a highly secured environment by issuing digital tokens to every employee in addition to the application user name and password to ensure two-tier security” he said.

He further said that EPDCL is conducting AP Roof-Top Solar Expo-2015 at the Viswa Priya function hall on the R K Beach road from August 22 to 24. Mr Raju said that the objective of the expo is to create awareness among public to opt for solar energy “There will be a demo of roof-top solar power generation, solar pumpsets and the energy equipment will be displayed. The EPDCL will arrange two stalls for spot registration of solar net metering applications and to inform public on the safety aspect of electrical equipment. More stalls will be arranged by New and Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh, Vuda, GVMC, bankers and insurance agencies and a live demo of net metering will also be arranged,” he added. To encourage public on installing roof-top solar system, daily lucky draws for visitors will be held and on the last day the winner in the bumper draw will be awarded 1 KW solar roof-top unit. Slogans on solar energy and energy conservation will be collected from the visitors through a drop box and best three slogans will be given prizes. NREDCAP managing director Kamalakar Babu said that when the union government used to give a subsidy of 30 per cent, the cost of 1 KW equipment was 1.4 lakh which is now available between 80,000 and 90,000 and so the subsidy is only 15 percent.
