After a brief spell of mild temperatures, the mercury levels in Visakhapatnam have been climbing once again over the last few days and sunday registered a maximum temperature of 37.2 degrees celsius. The sizzling temperatures coupled with height humidity levels o sunday made Vizagites feel the pinch of summer. A few weather systems in the Bay of Bengal and Odisha had brought the temperatures down a notch for about ten days and the maximum temperatures hovered around 35 degrees celsius until April 4. But again the temperatures have slowly crept above 37 degrees Celsius.
Many residents o the city limited themselves to their homes with the increased temperatures on Sunday. Meanwhile, the weathermen informed that the above normal temperatures would continue for the next two months. Meanwhile, one Neelamma, 45, a labourer of National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS) allegedly died of sunstroke on Sunday in the district. According to the sources, Neelamma, a native of Rachapalli village in G.Madugula Mandal, fainted while doing the labour work in a farmland as part of the NREGS in the afternoon and soon died.
