Dengue Hits City Again, Claims One :-
Dengue crisis continued to rattle Visakhapatnam as a 13 year old boy died of it in the late hours of Friday in a private hospital in Malkapuram. The deceased was identified as Polimerla Satish, who was living in the TDP Colony with his parents. According to Polimerla Sivaji, the boy’s father who works as a labourer, the boy developed fever three days ago and was shifted to the ESI Hospital. Upon referral of the ESI Hospital doctors, they further shifted the boy to a private hospital in Malkapuram, where he later died. Upon receiving complaints from the locals about heaps of garbage across the colony, sanitary inspector Trinath and his team reached the colony and cleaned the area on Saturday.
Health officer Dr P.Hema latha rushed to the colony and ordered her team to complete door to door surveillance in the area and instructed the locals of all the symptoms and preventive measures. The health officials took blood samples from suspected individuals. Another person was identified as having symptoms of dengue in the same area. According to authorities, several people in TDP Colony. Ambedkar Colony, Prakash Colony and other colonies under the 48th ward have been suffering from fever that could be dengue. Dr Hema latha informed that they are going to conduct health camps in the area.
