6 New Beaches to be Developed :-
As a step towards attract tourist from various corners from the country as well as international tourists. AP tourism department will develop six more new beaches at Yendada, Sagarnagar, Rushikonda, Thotla-konda, Mangamaripeta and Bheemili in Vizag city with all facilities such as water sports, beach tents, beach shacks, food courts and a few others by December 2015. The tourism department in association with CII, Andhra Pradesh launched a Destination Tourism Promotion Bureau (DTPB) to unique selling promotion of the tourist attractions in Vizag to attract large number of tourists. In an interactive session jointly organised by the local chapter of CII and department of tourism in Vizag city on Tuesday, several speakers delved into the tourism potential and how the city could be made a new destination for the inter-national and domestic tourists.
However, the discussion veered mainly on how to promote Vizag, ground viable projects and attract prospective investors. Speaking at the session, principal secretary, tourism and managing direc-tor of APTDC Neerabh Kumar Prasad said the government had laid out for AP (for which Vizag qualifies) include beach and water-based tourism, eco-tourism. Buddhist tourism, Religious tour-ism, Heritage tourism, MICE and infrastructure development, recreation and adventure tourism, spiritual and wellness tourism and medical tourism and 42 sub-themes and Visakhapatnam would have all the 42 themes which include medical tourism, religious, wellness, water sports and eco tourism.
Mr Prasad said that the tourism department wants to make Vizag as most preferred destination and promote the city in association with CII. The principal secretary said Tirupati would soon made a marriage destination, a scheme under which six members from the family including the bride and groom will have free VIP darshan. The scheme is being worked out with tour operators, he said. Similarly, he was searching for USP for marketing Simhachalam in Vizag and asked the CII mem-bers to come up with a good idea. Mr Prasad said that AP government would be using International Fleet Review to be held in Vizag from February 7 to 9 in 2016. being hosted by the Indian Navy to launch Visakhapatnam as the new global destination for tourism.
He announced some tourism projects for Vizag city which include a laser show at Rushikonda beach, mega water sports projects, cruise from Kakinada to Bheemlli and Vizag to Singapore. night ride in zoo, vista dome passenger train to Araku and development of Buddhist shrines at Thotlakonda and Bavikonda. Collector N. Yuvarsd said existing tourism projects would be given a facelift and beach nourishment would be taken up in view of the fleet review. Chairman of CII AP Tourism Panel Capt. Sriram Ravichander said that AP has many tourist attractions and its time to promote tourism in a grand scale.
